downtick

A Downtick occurs when a security’s transaction occurs at a lower price than it did previously.

If the new price a security trades at is lower than the previous, the security has ticked down.

As an example, if EURUSD is trading now at 1.2566, and then ticks down to 1.2565, we say EURUSD has a down tick.

Also known as minis tick or tick down.
